Doesn't work like that, there is usually a clan registry, my father manages quite a bit of land on behalf of our family, and there is an internal structure for managing land within most Somali clans.

My family land has been within the family for at least 150 - 200 years.

This is so bizarre. So this implies if i were not darood- i can't be protected if i bought land in puntland or vice verse for Somaliland?

No, if you bought land you're good, it just means in the case of societal collapse your land is still safe.

Not sure about Isaaq land, but your land is safe in Awdal, my parents' neighbours are Hawiye.
