How much do you pay for rent?

3 br a kitchen a living room and a small room for storage with 2 toilets, sub $500 rent and ALL bills in a 40 floor high rise luxurious building in the capital city of malaysia, kuala lumpur. My building even has a gym and a massive pool and a volleyball/badminton court, with 6 floors parking.

People out here really living in shacks for $2,000 for what? Keep in mind i used to live in UAE where rent is disgustingly high, i am extremely happy i am no longer living in subpar conditions for the price of a kidney, unless you are living like royalty for $2,000 you're wasting your money wallahi

As long as it's not dirty money, it's good. Even with tighter regulations, London will remain a global financial centre. I don't know how much of an impact this would have on house prices tbh.

Increasing number of houses built, and higher interest rates would probably reduce house prices more significantly.

There are many cities that have it worse than London in terms of unaffordability e.g. Hong Kong, Vancouver.

@Nilotic, @Periplus, what's going on in Australia?! Sydney house prices have increased 30% in a year! madness!

I'm honestly thinking of moving out of Sydney because of it; my sister wants me to move to Melbourne, but I'm so used to Sydney that I really want to find a way to make it work here.

@Hargeysa the problem in Australia is partly due to foreign buyers, constant economic growth, property developers etc.

My parents are homeowners and so are most Somalis we know but they’re probably gonna finish off their mortgage by retirement.

Compared to America and UK, hardly.

Public housing complexes have crime but then again no where near that of the UK and US.

In Sydney, areas like Guildford, Mt Druitt and Blacktown have crime but is decreasing. A decade ago, the entire West of Sydney was a no-go.

Melbourne’s suburbs like Dandenong, Broadmeadows have crime but it’s also dwindling.

To answer your question, the hood in Australia is probably Mt Druitt, public housing complexes, Broadmeadows (wider City of Hume).

You must live in Hamilton no way you can get that in Tdot
Depends on when they started renting. My parents live in a 3 bedroom apartment + utilities included for $1400 dollars in Mississauga, but they've lived in it since 2012 (it was $1050 back then).

It's not possible anymore. It's because of rent protection, the rent can only go up %1.2% a year for a tenant living in a home built before 2015. If my parents were to move then the next person to rent for their apartment would be paying $2300 without utilities, which is why they'll probably never move.

So if you see someone mentioning low rent in the GTA, it means they've probably been renting there for several years (before the rental market became crazy).

I live in a low income neighborhood, 5 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms for 2,500 minus the utilities. Hearing gun shots every night came with the house as a package.

would u rather spend the same money to live in a nice area with a house a quarter of the size

I couldn’t do that since I live with a big family.
I mean I lived with a big family in a tiny flat in a good area for like 5 years of my childhood, I hated it. My parents sed they would rather live having multiple ppl sleeping in the same room on the floor than living in a nice house in a bad area. i disagree with them

It’s not as bad as you think, I grew up in the neighborhood so everybody knows that my family likes to stay out of trouble. The only issue is the black people in the neighborhood. They hate Somalis with a passion.

Ik its not as bad cos my parents eventually split and we had to move to a bad area anyway. All u have to do is to learn to avoid certain places at certain times and not be stupid and its not that bad
