Didn't watch it, maybe later, but Israel, from 1947 to the 80s was getting help mainly from the west, France Uk, and West Germany. West Germany was one of the essential state who helped the early Israeli state to function, they sent billions of dollars, helped the Israeli state organize and modernise their grid, railway system, and many others of technological help. China wasn't a player since it was on the left camp.

China are money focused. They would sell arms to alien invaders if it meant getting profit. So I'm not at all surprised that they'd do this.
