How is Ethiopia doing so bad even though they don’t suffer from the effects of colonialism like other African countries?

Its wild how much more italy invested in ethiopia in thr 5 years they controlled it compared to the entire time they ruled somalia.

They controlled the koonfur from 1910ish or so and the east in 1925, and there were a huge amount of Somali rebellions against them. Italy only really controlled Somalia ironically for the trusteeship period after WW2.

Yeah somalia's truly massive societal changes seem to have only come in the 60s after independence.

Idk where I saw it but there was a documentary on a PhD in Ethiopia who ended up cleaning shoes as a living for the rest of his life
