In the spirit of shuqul la'an due to the coronavirus debacle, I'll share how I lost 30 pounds in 3 months.
I hope this thread can motivate you and provide some guidance in your weight loss journey.
To put things into perspective and to avoid confusion, I have provided my stats.
Height: 6'0
Starting weight: 208
Final weight: 176
To lose weight, you should follow these 3 principles.
Tbh, it's all you need to successfully lose weight
1. You don't actually need a fancy meal plan or a fancy workout plan. If your intention is to just lose weight, just go for a a run, a jog, or just take a walk for about an hour every other day. Gradually adjust the intensity and duration of your workout based on your limits. Make sure to not overdo it and injure yourself. Stretch before and after any excercise
2. You need determination and willpower. Without it, weight loss is just a pipedream. Since you will be eating less than usual and rigorously working out, it's important to have the willpower to stave off hunger and to stick with the workout.
3. You'll need to track and keep tabs on colories. I can't stress this enough, cook your own food else you won't be able to know exactly how many colories you are consuming.
Find out how many colories it takes to maintain your weight based on your height and weight, and just consume 1/3 of that. Also, you can't be eating qashin like rooti, pasta, white rice, soft drinks..etc. make sure you are only consuming whole wheat products and healthy greens and fruits. Fiber is especially important to stave off hunger
My meal plan consisted of whole grain muufo and eggs in the morning; a controlled portion of black beans and brown rice with a side of salmon for lunch. I don't eat after lunch. The salmon is a good source of protein, which is important in maintaining your muscle mass. Protein also helps with weight loss. The total colories i consume in a day would be around 1400 while it took around 2400 to maintain my current weight. This means that I'll lose 2 pounds of weight every week and when you factor in exercise, it's even more.
I would switch up my meal plan every day but i always make sure it's whole foods. Digir iyo baris and cambuulo are fairly consistent tho
For exercise, i run 4 miles every other day, and I burned around 600 colories in exercise. I don't do any other exercise. It's important to rest, don't go nuts like i did and hurt yourself.
That's how i lose weight and keep it off. It's not that hard
