How do you guys figure out what you want in life?

I’m going through depression right now. I honestly don’t know what to do with my life anymore or what I want to do. I should be grateful as my parents say...I study computer science at a great school in Canada, I have a roof over my head and a great family. But I wake up anxious about my future and I just don’t know what to do. I have the most pessimistic thought process. I think to myself I’ll never get a decent job, no one will ever want to marry me, I’m going no where in life, etc. Another thing is I really long to be around more people, especially Somalis or family at least. I’ve felt so isolated because of the lockdowns. How’d you guys find your happiness in life?

Dont worry too much your still young im sure some day someone will want to marry you and you will get decent job and will go somewhere in life. Just finish college first.
 
You're going through a phase. It happens to a lot of people. Life makes more sense as you get older. The dots starts to connect. You'll have a clearer vision of what you want in due time. By thinking negativity and stressing too much sometimes we can be our worst enemy. Avoid it.

I would suggest two simple effective things:
  1. Picking up a sport activity or hitting the gym. Multiple studies show exercise helps mental health by reducing stress and anxiety. Your mood will improve drastically.
  2. Socialising. We are social creatures who thrive with others. You must reach out to family and friends and ask to go places or do activities together. It keeps your life busy and engaged with others. Think positive. Laugh and be good company to others.

Great advice thanks love! My mom just signed me up for religion classes so we’ll be learning together every weekend which is nice and I got a gym membership. Inshallah everything turns out well and I hope the same for you❤️
 
I just focus on my Akhirah cos that’s the only thing that matters and the dunya just lines up in place for u even tho I don’t care about it
At the end of the day we are all gonna end up in the grave no matter how much Dunya we enjoyed, so don’t stress too much over it.
 
I don't even know what the hell I want to do and I thought I'd figure it out as I grow older. Sometimes when you ain't too smart or a bit more callous with how you approach education, you get lost. But then again, I never really saw myself being in a profession that was always preached to me as I grow up. I can't see myself just being a doctor forever in my life. But money is more important now so it's biting me back.
