How do Somali businesses in UK/US/Canada/Europe make a profit?

I went to the Somali shopping centre in my area and all the businesses can be categorised as following, barbers, a halwo person/cafe and dirac shop so I am wondering how do they make a profit because I can't imagine they can be in service for a long time do they sell the business to another person after a period or is their margin small because they all sell the same product but enough to survive?
