How come somalis don't have "Chinese confinement" after the mother give birth?

In asian culture, when the mother gives brith, she goes into confinement. Confinement starts after birth and lasts until the baby is 1-1.5 months old. During confinement the mother focuses only on her physical, emotional, and mental health. The only thing she does with the baby is play and bond with it. The work/ taking care of the baby is done by the other members of the family (including the father of the child) or the facility staff if the mother decides to do "confinement" at a confinement facility. I was watching the video below yesterday. Many asian ethnicities have this. I was wondering why the somali community doesn't have a similar.

After birth, the child is always the focus and not the mother. I personally encourage women to try the Chinese confinement after they give brith (except the not showering part). I suggest that y'all shower in hot water and keep the temp around the house warm.

They do have something similar. It's called 40-bax. Didn't see it in the west, but back home i think the sister or some female that knows the wife comes to the family to help with cooking, cleaning, etc for 40 days. The wife just focuses on the baby.

The whole point of my thread was for the mother to focus on herself . what's the point if she's focused on the baby?

ok. why can't it happen in the west then?
old habits die hard. I think we are making progress tho. believe it or not, we used to insult the masculinity of men that helped their wives in the kitchen. Nasty nasty insults. Now, things are getting better though

I’ve seen the documentary of the Chinese umuul hotel, where mother and her newborn stay for a several weeks and have all their needs catered to. This is a luxury that only the well-off can afford. I think the Chinese traditionally, just had a similar concept to the Somalis of 40-bax. The mother’s female relatives and in-laws live with her for some weeks and help out.

I'm not even talking about the hotel, I'm primarily talking about the traditional one. During the traditional confinement, the mother doesn't life a finger unless she's bond or breastfeeding. Why don't we got that? even during the 40 bax, the mother is still expected to do some of the work

We do. Unless the mother has shitty family/in-laws, or lives too far away from them, that’s how it traditionally is. The mother just feeds and bonds with the baby, maybe bathes it too.
