How come Muslims don’t make Eid a big deal?

I decorate my house on the night before Eid, wrap up presents for my family and friends and also cook.


I’ve noticed living in MN Somalis and even other Muslims don’t make Eid a big deal!. Back in college I went to an egyptian friend’s house on Eid day and I didn’t see not one festive thing in her house.

Count out fake sheikhs to scream haraam on everything that they forgot about the beautiful side of our religion.


I’m currently looking for decorative inspiration for this coming Eid inshallah...

Tbh idk we don't put up alot of things up but I've seen back home they do decorate the home.
We clean and make new curtains and carpets and stuff and get the place ready for guests but no deco.
We care more about food and going out.

My favourite part of eid since I was young has always been the EID prayer even when we went themeparks, restaurants, starcity etc eid prayer was always the highlight

Because u r an american. U want your own Xmas festivity. Whats next--a Xmas tree on Eid Day? walaahi american capitalism is offensive and officious. Very aggravating. Eiid is a single day celebration marking the breaking of a months starvation and ibaadah practicing. No one has the energy to decorate Xmas lights in their homes. It will be fake and not modest. Islam is the religion of modest. Covering as opposed to Decorating & Flashy! Reiko i hope u don't have Xmas lights on your Hijaab-- Hijaab coincidentally is a 'covering'!

I’m not going to lie, but Eid is so boring. My mum makes us clean the house the day before which gets everyone tired and annoyed, whilst on the day itself, we go to my cousin’s house like we always do, nothing special or exiting. The only difference is that the children are wearing horrible sparkly clothes.

Eid is basically a day out for everyone, there’s nothing distinct or unique about it.

When I was younger it was mostly going out to eat with fam and going to Chuck E. Cheese ( a family arcade). A lot of Somalis families did the same. As I got older we started doing other things like going to amusement parks and etc.

Now
I personally just pray with my family. Eat a family breakfast and afterwards do my own thing with my friends.
Last eid I just went to the lake with my homies and had a bbq. We even rented jet skis for a few hours.

Just because you dye your grey hair with box color doesn't make you automatically 20 years old, the wrinkles on your face gives it away. A little birdie told me you smell of fenugreek and garlic.
