I don't recall ever reading anything about somali resources being exploited by the british or italians like they did to congo and other african countries. So what gives? did they not have enough time to exploit resources due to the lightning speed movements of somali resistance on all fronts?

Boroma is full of gemstones. Their British counter part city Henley on Thames has a gemstone buying company there. As @abubashiir said it was they could refuel and meat because Somalis were one of the most prominent races on taking care of livestock. Somaliland was a protectorate not a colony this is why they weren’t exploited. You wouldn’t want another Dervish uprising. Djibouti/French Somaliland was exploited from its salt from Lake Assal not only a strategic location. They could have taken the oil as they were already drilling saudi oil in the 40's, we have gold in sanaag that they could have taken and added to the queens collection, not to mention the plentiful supply of uranium. Quite frankly either they couldn't sustain multiple resistance fights with the stubborn somalis or we got really lucky and they just decided not to search because the region looks like a desert.
