How come coffee was never part of Somali culture like it is with the habeshas?

So culturally, somalis have always been shaah lovers. Shaah iyo sheeko. When somali moms have guests over, they make them shaah.

Back home in Somalia, everyone overwhelmingly prefers shaah over coffee. There’s shaah makhayads all over. Somalis socialize over tea.

but I’m curious, why didn’t Somalis like Ethiopian coffee? Why didn’t coffee become part of our culture like it is with the Ethiopians?

I don't think we grow coffee in Somalia. That's probably why. Ethopia is a big coffee importer.

Even me I much prefer tea over coffee. I drink 3-4 cups of tea dailly but only like one coffee every 2 days.

And the funny thing about Ethiopians Christian
This was also pointed out by a Pro-Ethiopian scholar like Rita Pankhurst;

..coffee was likewise avoided by Ethiopian Christians until the end of the nineteenth century ( Rita Pankhurst 1997 : 528 )” - The Archaeology of Islam in Sub-Saharan Africa - 73

Somalis did drink coffee and it was recorded by European travelers.

This is a lie Ethiopian culture never had coffee culture they thought coffee was a Muslim drink only. The church banned it and even Burton says they didn’t drink it.

What about Yemen? It is said that they were the first to export and drink coffee?

Somali nomads did indeed drink shaax and coffee, beside that, even if the nomads didn't, reer magaal Somali definitely did drink and imported coffee.
The Somali nomadic diet was cad iyo caano I asked nomads men who were 80 years old and older and there was not even rice People only cared about their livestock and the raids

your 80 years old relatives aren't representative of all nomad somalis or reer magaals.
