Land is free for all for livestock in the badiyo so why would the average geel man care about planting trees?

I hope rich capitalists buy up large swaths of land to turn into ranches for grazing. Private greed is best suited for Somalia where there is no common cause. I would take Somalia and map it in to 1 sq mi blocks like they did across farming land in America and auction it off one by one.

The drought wasn’t solely caused by rainfall failure. What’s worse than that is extreme heat waves & strong steady winds, Excessive evaporations is probably having the bigger role. Open barkads will dry up faster just by evaporation. Never had it been so dry on average in the HoA.

In open water sources, like ponds and other water harvesting schemes, adding Alga & other aquatic plants will partially cover the water surface. Aquatic plants will not only shade the water below, they will also absorb some of the sun’s energy, keeping the water cooler is useful to prevent evaporations. This is probably the simplest and cheapest method to prevent evaporations.

Doing that and simply building much more water catchment sites will a long way

I don't think that we can reverse global warming, we can just slow it down.
Technology can also make desertification bearable. I say move to a greener place (Somalia has a lot of it in the south) but agriculture is doomed to fail in this region, even northern Kenya is affected by global warming.
