How can we develop our country quickly?

I genuinely think a solid federal military power devoid of clan influences is needed. That's the only way you can force a united Somalia. Through force and military strength. After that, control education and add propaganda. The propaganda will be anti-clan. This will be taught to kids growing up. After that, you create a friendly business sector and an focus on education. I think that'd be my solution tbh.

An emphasis on education- this means either adopting the curriculum of developed countries or establishing our own secularist one. Not only will this increase our national IQ but it will also show the youth that there are better opportunities than joining al shabbab.

Security- having one national army controlled by the Somali government. Our army should be paid, trained and armed properly.

Gender equality- Somali government must take serious steps to ensure that women are equally represented in government jobs as well as in parliment.

Ban qabil- people should be banned from talking about qabil and it should be made a hate crime.

If I was in charge I would prioritise these issues, until I moved on to building infrastructure. @Steamdevolopment @EDsomali i would be interested in reading your ideas.

Only by actually going back. It is easy to write on the Internet that one would do this or that. Empty words that mean nothing without action.

It is not until you go back that you can really make and feel a hands on practical change for the better.

Somalia’s exports are around half a billion U.S $$$, but the imports exceed 2 billion U.S $$$. That’s a massive trade deficit unsustainable for growth.

When the whole country’s budget is around quarter of billion $$$ which is far less than the budget of any municipality in Australia, where will the money for health services, education and training come from?

Every country started off poor my friend. It is a good economic model that helped china become the superpower that it is today. We have yet to industrialise but there will be many generations to come after us and life will go on. The best that we can do is to unite the country and create an era of peace so that the youth can have hope and to improve upon the education sector.

IMO, you need to have developed neighbouring countries for you to become a developed country.

Look at most developed countries, they are usually surrounded by other developed countries (Korea, Japan, Coastal Mainland China, Taiwan) .. (Australia, New Zealand) .. (Chile, Argentina, Southern Brazil) .. Gulf Countries (KSA, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Oman) .. Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Angola (little bit) .. Western Europe etc etc you get the point.

Somalia is surrounded by the worst countries on the planet (Yemen, Eritrea, South Sudan - lesser extent Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya (last three are developing a bit at least).

Development is a regional strategy, not just a one-nation thing.

As i live and breathe
1. Qabiilism needs to be treated with the same contempt racism is treated with in the west.

2. Encourage back migration for all the world's Somalis, instead of treating us like pseudo foreigners. We need that reverse brain drain to kick start things.

3. Kick out all foreign hands in the country, save a few essential ones. There's too many conflicting interests in the country.

4. Defeat Al shabab either through diplomacy or overwhelming them with soldiers from all regions in the country.

5. Replace all warlord politicians and corrupt assholes in the government.

This would be a good start. Success isn't guaranteed even if all these requirements are met, but we will at least stand a chance at recovery.

It just occurred to me. How much debt is our country in? or do we even have debt? Do we have a rothschild bank in our country?

@Knowles

What i would do to make Somalia prosper is this.

1- Abandon this stupid 4.5 system and this clan federalism , dissolve parliament and re-write the constitution.
2- Ban all warlords , corrupt officials and tribalist from running in any government whether it be local or federal.
3- A new federal government that would be elected by the people through elections and would have to go through tests to make sure they are capable of the role they would be taken . For example, if someone was to be chosen for the role of finance minster , they would have to have some high level form of education regarding public finance, I think the minimum should be a masters/Phd in economics or public finance or something that related to the role of finance minster. They would also have to go through tests relating to Somali history and the history of Somali governance and advance level tests relating to the field they would be taking in government to make sure those with fraudulent degrees could not take these positions. They also should appear before a group of MPs who would further question their stability for the role they were undertaking. This is is extended for the president and the prime minster as well. As for regular MPs , they should at least have a bachelors degree and pass the tests relating to Somali history and governance.
4- Adopt a new federalism model that focus on local governance so that people can improve their own small communities without relying on the federal government government. Federal states should be split along tribal lines but this would be different from the federalism we have now. They would have far less power , they would be unable to have armies , unable to engage in foreign affairs , their role would be to serve their local federal state nothing else. The elected federal government would tell them what to do , for example reduce child morality and they would do just that nothing more nothing less.
5- Create an independent corruption department , completely independent from local and federal government with the sole purpose on reducing corruption. They would enjoy special powers such as tracking officals spending , the ability to search homes etc. They would have a close relationship with the local and federal police forces to make sure corruption was zero.
6- Train a new multi-tribal armed forced which would be equally split between tribes so that one tribe does not have more member than another.
7- Tell Al-shabaab to either have peace talks and abandon their terrorist ways or be destroyed. The government should make concessions and promise they won't be tried or put in jail and once al shabaab surrenders and the government gains the power then arrest all ex shabaabs leaders and members and jail them. Their crimes will never be forgotten.
8- Set up a civil war tribunal with the purpose of finding those responsible of committing atrocities during the civil war and try them. For example general morgan , mahdi etc holding them accountable for their actions. The federal government should also take responsibility for the actions of the kacaan government and offer reparations to the victims of the actions committed by the government. They should also offer apologies , an apology goes a long way.

There is a whole lot more i can think of but i don't want to write an essay so here are just some of the things that should happen. Sry for the typos.

There is a whole lot more that needs to change with Somalia but these are some of the first things that need to be done.

If you want to develop fast, less religion and more hard work including releasing 50% the work force aka women into labor market, is a must. The alternative would be to just chew khat and pray for oil to pop up like the gulf states. There is no short cut. Without cultural transformation, I see not much "fast developing" in my view. In fact compared to what Somalia was during Siad Barre, I think Somalia is way too backward today than it was in the 70es. Even to catch up with the Siad Barre era advancement, Somalia needs a lot of cultural transformation. With current extreme religiosity (even worse than most arabs) and intolerance, I see no hope of advancement, sorry. That is just a personal opinion.

You are aware of Somalia being 100% Muslim right? Yeah during Siad Barre's era Somalia was secular. Women would work and contribute to the nation. And they still can today. Those terror groups you see in the news are terrorists that are avoiding peace.

Somalia will indefinitely advance with the developing agriculture, infrastructure, oil, etc being bound to be found and to happen in Somalia.

There are many countries like Turkey that are 100% Muslim but that doesn't mean the society should be such a religious fanatic. In case of Somalia, less qabiilsm and less religiosity is not even an option but a MUST for progress.

Fam all Somalis in Somalia are Muslim.

But did you know it's usually the West that brainwashes Somalis into leaving the religion.
