No bull or derailing the thread please! just put on your thinking caps and lets have our own mini somali discussion/conference and plan 50yrs ahead into the future. NO negativity pls! just offer your view points and some valid points as to how we can accelerate our development and not end up in debt or in a ditch like our west african counter parts.
The of the crucial aspect of industrialising and developing in my opinion, is all dependant on the general population's education level. Once we build proper universities that offer valid degrees and rebuff the education system in this country to something similar to the chinese education system then i have firm belief that once over 50% of the general population are educated in various fields that we can start to build up our industries at a rapid rate. It won't be easy but it's a path we must take if we are to progress in the future.
My suggestion would be to build up our government from the ground up and this will be tricky seeing as most corrupt politicians are backed by their qabils and any attempt to remove them or to expose their corruption will be met with violence which could erupt into a civil war (Which is the last thing we need). We must as a ppl accept the fact that if we don't band together like the asians and the europeans did then we will remain in this rut and won't progress any further than our bantu neighbours who have gotten themselves into deep debt to try and build infrastructure (kudos to them At least they took initiative).
Famines and droughts
Unfortunately ever since most of our rivers dried up centuries ago, our farmers have struggled to find water for their livestock and the environment has been hit hard by desertification which is taking more and more land as we speak. To combat this we must seek effective ways of funding projects that can help alleviate the harmful effects of the climate in north. There are plenty of modern day inventions which can help to store up rain water during the wet season, which due to ignorance is always wasted and allowed to flow into the ocean. We can use many water storage methods to capture and store water and can even look into tapping into our underground water reserves which remain untouched until today. A modern day sewage system is well over due and septic waste water treatment plants must be build int key cities so that water used can cleaned and recycled. We must as a community think about funding these projects ourselves since our ppl don't pay taxes in general (politicians are corrupt anyway) we must think about organising these fundraising events ourselves to raise money for our own local communities because the government is happy to sit back and allow the situation back home to deteriorate.
Police and military
How can we expect order and civility back home when our law enforcers are so weak? we must urge the government to put a hold on any further projects and to fund their police force with weapons and training so that business owners and investors like myself can feel safe and protected whilst doing business in their own country. The military will have to wait until the arms embargo is lifted. However the terrorist al shabaab issue could be resolved if we had an intelligence agency or even had spies posted in their towns to monitor their activity. We need to go the pablo escobar route and have spies place all over the south.
