This might be an unpopular opinion but i have to be honest. The reason is culture.

I think its more due to white europeans being able to adopt great foundation of knowledge ,technology from Non europeans and incorporate it explore and make it their own by europeanizing it and built upon it advancing etc . . It is on how European culture is constantly changing and evolving itself. Ofc they did this to start with by methods of the Islamic era (Moors) and then to some degree via imperialism and trade. (Arab and persians,greeks/roman etc did the same in the past to advance their empires ). But the foundation from which they have built upon was strictly European culture greek/roman etc especially during times of the renaissance.

The truth is culture is not static, its supposed to cultivate. Culture itself must reconstruct itself if the system in which it exists is recontructed and rearranged. Some of us get in trouble because we want to find a African/Somali culture stuck somewhere back in the thirteenth century and want to apply it to ourselves at this point in a different context. Culture is constantly changing and evolving because the context in which African/Somali people live changes and evolves. What makes it Somali culture is that it operates in the interests of Somali people and designed to advance African/Somali people.

And while we must draw on the past , we must also filter it to suit our contemporary moments. Taking the best traditions that suit our communities,nations and individuals. And even that will vary depending region,religion,politics and culture.

I have said this before a true nationalist is not afraid to overthrow tradition when tradition is unproductive. He is not one who just gives support to Somali tradition out of some ignorance or romantics.
