How are some anglophone new world blacks Catholic ?

They are mostly Protestant,but some are Catholic. How did that happen? They were colonised by the Brits in the 1600s.

Not all brits are/were Protestant. Some moved to the new world for safety and don’t forget the Spanish and French who previously held the South and East.
