-CNN reports that US intelligence has discovered discussions between Houthis in Yemen to provide weapons to Somali militant group al-Shabaab, posing a threat to destabilize the region. Officials are investigating whether Iran, providing military and financial support, is involved. This marriage of convenience could worsen relations in Somalia, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden, where Houthis have attacked US military assets.

-It also poses increased threats to the region especially Kenya that has been a constant target of Al Shabaab.

Weapons flows from Yemen into Somalia are made through Somali smugglers on the Eastern ports. Some of the weapons may indirectly be sourced from Houthis through third parties, but I doubt they directly work together or intentionally arm them. It would not make sense since AQ in Yemen is one of the biggest enemies of Houthis and those weapons could be resold to AQ in Yemen.

Shias are out for blood and Iran does not give a f, they will let the laangab wahabis Sunnis slaughter each other before they get slaughtered again the way Saddam fought them. One thing I learned being around some Iranians and sects of Islam is they can hate you more than a gaal can. And to be fair, they all have a reason to be angry. Ex muslims can also be very cruel especially the Western educated feminist types. I went through that phase myself. That doesn’t add up why run the risk of getting the weapons seized by Puntland forces when they can send it straight to Al shabaab down south no military to worry about and you’re cutting the middleman out. Another problem with Bosaso is you can’t send it straight there the port is too secure and there’s checkpoints once you leave you have to go to a coastal village middle of nowhere in Bari and doing that runs the risk of bumpin into IS who hate AS more than the military.
