There's nothing wrong with this the city needs more landmarks, he already built the best university in the country and is behind many more projects, dont forget he made Beco which is making electricity in Xamar affordable which is essential for industralization

I’m conflicted because I do agree with Barkhadle’s sentiments on the city needing landmarks. But I do believe that should come after we have the basics established

That's an odd decision, why use Turkish design when they can design it around the existing historic mosques that our ancestors built. The architecture looks nice and a bigger version of them would look nice too.

Those are two different sentences, what I am saying is that culturally speaking the Turkish masjid has successfully implanted itself on the pearl of the Indian ocean. This is because Turkish capital's new backyard is south Somalia, do your own research on this topic if you wan't more information.

I'm not against building a mosque as its khayr. But if your investing money there's way more better ways that would help the people way more then this. Building houses for the idps that dont have homes. Hospitals , orphanages and the likes. Those would all be much more beneficial then a massive beautified mosque which there is already plenty of already.

A new sea water desalination facility or fish factory would generate millions annually and uplift many residents. They have enough masajid and landmarks can be build later. This feels like buying expensive brand jacked while not having enough money for food.

Sxb I don't think a mosque built by the turks will make moqdisho their "new backyard". A few other civilizations like the Persian trade merchants who have settled there in the 13th century have built a mosque in Mogadishu, that didn't change or influence the local culture.
