HIJABI MODEL Halima Aden getting attacked for showing her hair

Let’s be honest Arabs and Asians have been hating on her from day 1. The main reason is Somali women are dominating the model industry whereas these Arabs/Asians don’t have the model look. Also it’s just a little hair bloody hell

Seeing Arabs/Asians come @ Somalis for hijab is so ??? They love to ignore the fact their cultures are more lenient with hijab/modesty than ours. I don’t know why they feel so emboldened coming for our women if we dare take liberty for ourselves. Half their women don’t even wear hijab.

You are absolutely right. It is envy because their features are not sought out for in the fashion/modeling industry like ours. They mask their true feelings under the guise of “muh one ummah we are only providing guidance to our muslim sister.” Their envy has to be the only explanation. Evil eye is so real.

I couldn’t have said it any better sis. I scroll through tiktok and I’m shocked at how much they love to police Somali women. It’s very weird to me considering they barely wear hijab 🤣

Baghbaddie (funny name btw) is so correct. Whenever I'm out, it's apparent the hijab is used for cultural reasons (being extremely afraid of your parents is quintessential Somali culture) by *some* Somalis. Some wear their hijab like a Sikh turban while revealing their neck and maybe even their ears and revealing some hairs at the back clearly on purpose. Others take off their hijab entirely like a Transformer (Hijabi No Longer in Disguise) out of no where while they're walking (they do it from a safe distance far away from the home and in a sea of gaal but not safe enough from Abdifreedom's hawkish, possibly 20/10 eyes).

I make it a personal rule to not follow any Somali celebrity.

Regardless of whether she chooses to keep it on or take it off, she is our sister and we need to give her the space she needs. The industry can really be tough, especially when you are a young girl and there isn't many women doing what she is doing. Let's keep sister Halima in our prayers and also let us stop getting mad about what other people do - we are only responsible for ourselves. Allah will not ask anyone of us on the Day of Judgement about what Halima did or didn't do. Did you pray all 5 of your salahs maanta?

It's her own fault. People hate hypocrites. I notice few Somalis ever attack Iman even though she has never worn a hijab. Just do what you are gonna do. Some Somali Muslims fall into the hypocrisy trap. They make themselves appear to be holier than thou and then boom.

Look I know people in here are going to say to cover up but this is her choice and we need to act civil and respect her as our somalia sister
:kanyehmm:

her and mo farah have more sense than this generation lol.

Having a hijab on while being in that industry is just a huge oxymoron so it was bound to happen. You can’t be a covered up practicing Muslim while in a field that’s literally based on showing off your beauty. She has two choices either leave the industry (which she hasn’t done) or be less practicing (like Iman). Can’t have your cake and eat it too when it comes to that

Yep it’s what happens when you try to have your cake and eat it too. A lot of Somalis pretend to be religious and look the part when they really aren’t about that life.

Its the same reason the hijabi Somali girls on Tiktok who do suggestive dances, lipsync to vulgar songs and wear tight clothing get tonsss of hate in the comments while nobody really bothers the ones who don’t wear hijab and don’t portray a religious image.

She was retarded for trying to appease people who aren’t even paying her bills. Now she can’t make any little personal or career decision without sparking outrage. She should’ve just kept her mouth shut and valued her career. Instead of focusing on modeling, she decided to focus on social media activism. Misplaced priorities.

She irritated me in the past when she publicly criticized casting agents and photographers. It’s like she was begging to be blacklisted by the industry. Hopefully she got PR training by now.

Casting agencies and photographers deserve criticism if they are doing something wrong. My guess is that she cares about her identity so she could not or can not focus on money making alone without being mindful of her ID. Whether she likes it or not, she represents more than herself as a somali.

Propjecting yourself onto her is just as unfair as other people criticising her for showing her hair. It is no ONE else's business including you.
