Head of ATMIS visits FOB in Cadale

2,000 to leave end of this month. Mainly the Burundis stationed in Middle Shabelle. He visits the FOB in Cadale town to hand over to SNA. Warsheihk Base was handed over few years ago in 2019 and Maslax base in Balcad district. was handed over to SNA few months ago

Burundi should be the first to leave. Doesn’t make sense why they’re reportedly angry. Abgaal can control Middle shabelle without ATMIS. Similar to how there’s no AMISOM needed for HG.

can’t see AMISOM in the South leaving tho. Too many diverse clans

Middle Shabelle east of the river is 100% Shabaab free. Clans there have enough macawiisley and SNA troop except for runirgood area which I’m confused on what’s going on there. I travelled through Middle Shabelle/Galgaduud border and the place is hawd area. Best place for Shabaab to hide.

East Galmudug will always be vulnerable as long as Shabaab remain in Ceelbuur district but there was never AMISOM there anyways.

>The ATMIS is also expected to withdraw another 3,000 soldiers by September in compliance with the UN Security Council Resolutions 2,628 and 2,670, which mandate the ATMIS to hand over security responsibilities in agreed areas to Somali security forces.

So Burundi is out and Shabellaha Dhexe is in SNA hands completely.

Hiiraan is likely next as it’s probably the easiest to hold without ATMIS, only has a few hundred Djibouti and Ethiopian forces
