People fail to distinguish between physical discipline and abuse.

There’s nothing wrong with a mild non-harmful physical discipline when it is necessary and as a last resort, Allah permits mild spousal discipline as a last resort in Surah An-Nisa 4:34 when all reasonable steps have been exhausted. However, if your discipline exceeds reasonable limits and causes harm (severe pain, marks, bruises, hitting the face or sensitive body parts etc) then you are guilty in the eyes of Allah and an evil person.

I think everyone agrees that a parent who hits the palms of their small child with a pencil is not the same as a fringe insane parent who burns their child with an iron or punches their child brutally or whatever evil they would do to their child.

Mild physical discipline in theory and implemented properly in practice is not the same as physical abuse that causes major harm.

As for what happened to that Somali girl on Tiktok, what happened is inexcusable and the person who did this to her is a barbaric animal. May Allah heal her and may she get justice against the individual who abused her. That video is sad to watch.
