It is actually not recommended to change your name after converting as naming a person is considered the right of the father.

It’s seen as disrespect to a father to change your name as long as it was good name.

If I converted I wouldn’t change my name, it’s the name his parents gave to him and it is not recommended to change it!

Again he’s a convert, people need time to really get into our lifestyle, it isn’t easy to change your whole life, and you need to take steps to really be a good Muslim instead of rushing into things as a convert
