more than the "problack" people? It's ridiculous how they claim to stand up for the black race, but it's pure patronization and puts so much importance on the opinions of nonblacks. I can't really explain exactly what I mean, but perhaps some of you have seen it. And I think a lot of young somali women feel like they have to pick up on this mentality and join in on "being oppressed" or else they won't be black enough. I remember reading this article on unmarried black (somali) women in the muslim community and reading the article I couldn't help but think bull****, when black reverts have that issue its understandable, but we are an entire community of black muslims coming from a BLACK muslim country, why would this be an issue :faysalwtf: oh boo hoo other non black muslims don't like us :jcoleno: I have an entire muslim community of my ethnicity to support me, but that doesnt matter at all :comeon:

yall see what im saying right? :childplease:

yeah, a somali, no doubt one who wanted to have a black sob story. Let's be honest, at the end of the day most somalis will end up marrying another somali, they will always have that option.

There should be Somali lonely hearts. We need to find a way of not attracting jokers and getting real people together.

She needs to stfu tbh bc we're a minority and we're picky/hard to please. That's why a minority of Somali women are single when they're a bit older.

actually you know what, I just read that article, I was confusing it with another one I read. The girl who wrote that one was talking about something else. But nonetheless my original point still stands

Other non Somali muslims acknowledge our superiority in the religion. In every mosque in the west, its almost always a Somali leading the taraweeh prayers. Even if that mosque is run by non Somalis

Somalis take their children to Dugsi from a very young age. Other non-Somali Muslims don't do that. Albeit being a good thing, it does not necessarily mean Somalis are more superior in religion. People are not guided because of what race they are.

That's not true. There's a local community hall that the south asian community use near my house, all the kids from their community go there after school and on weekends. Including the very young ones. Not to mention the programmes they run in their masjids. I have friends who have told me they went to something similar when they were young too. It's not just somalis.

I'm (obviously) generalising here. Ask the average South East Asian Muslim to recite Surah Al-Qadr to you with accurate pronunciation, they won't be able to do it. Most Somali kids probably would. Somali parents pay more attention to the Quranic education of their children. Ma sha Allah, good on them tbh.

Honestly, instead of focusing on Dugsi Quran we should invest more time on creating activities for our Youth. We need to strengthen our community and create a stronger Somali bond. There's a reason why Somalis are running after Arabs for validation. We are not investing enough in our ethnic values and traditions.
