I think it's completely offensive because it reminds me of the divide between the Tutsis and Hutus that led to the Rwandan genocide. And you guys get offended when you're called black (even though you are), so why shouldn't the usage of the word hutu for hawiyes be offensive.

First of all you've just offended me by calling me black, I'm not black. You can't make me black. I'm African, Somali.



Yes you're correct the word Hutu derived from the Rwandan genocide. Hawiyes acted like Hutus. And rumor has it, hawiyes are originally from Rwanda.
