There are somalis that live in Seattle(the 2nd biggest tech city), the Bay Area(the biggest tech city), and San Diego. Not all of us are lazy bums, minimum wage in Seattle is almost 17 and in Minnesota and other places it’s like 8 bucks.

Seriously tho' your above characterization of the community is both simplistic and misleading. think you have misconceptions about the greatness of New-York just like millions of people whose fantasy of the iconic and mythical Big Apple collides with the hard reality on the ground once they move there . It's a rat race where even people with decent professional jobs struggle to make ends meet especially if they have kids and family to support.

Btw there was an influx of new West African immigrant families and seeing their struggle made me realize that Somalis dodged a bullet.

Its not is an amazing city very big and so much things to do with so much job opportunities and the muslim population is massive which means more halal options and practicing your religion freely since there aren't that many red necks in Nyc unlike the Midwest. Is such a shame would have loved to live around Dominicans and Puerto Ricans. We would have fit in really well over there. And like i said the Somali population in the Bay area is very small to the point they're disconnected with the rest of the Somali world. Let's face it the only place Somalis exist in America is Minnesota and Colombus outside of that is rare to come across a Somali. Habesha people are very wise for choosing cool cities to live like DC, Houston, LA Bay area because they are not lazy or rely on government fundings that's why they achieve much better than us.

Ok fair enough if you actually lived in the city and experienced first hand But I still wish we existed there and formed our own community i just honestly think Somalis in MN and OH needs to spread out to other states/cities like Florida, Los Angeles, Chicago and form a community there.
