SL has an active diaspora and business community, but they have an incredibly corrupt and inefficient Government, down to their cities and towns. You'll see some nice buildings,
but they don't seem to have paved roads and sidewalks in Hargeisa, there is also a problem with water.

The people living there need to ask where their taxes go, because it's not being returned to them.

I don't think so. Our beautiful amazing capital Mogadishu is still number one. What a great place.

Considering the pace with which Jigjiga is growing, it looks like it will manage to overtake Hargeisa in the next 10 years. Hargeisa's clan hinterland is almost tapped out, urbanization is already above 70%.

Mogadishu's hinterland is from everything between Galkacyo and the Juba river. It can more than triple in size.

why do they always make tourist go to that dusty market and look at that dusty money :heh:

Highly unlikely, Somali magaalo with the largest economy is Djibouti city closely followed by Mogadishu. Hargeisa would be up there if Berbera+Hargeisa were one.

Mogadishu's reals estate industry alone is bigger than the entire Somaliland economy.
Where in Somalia can you sell empty plot of land for a million dollar?

Look up source-sink theory, it’s not usually used in context of urban migration but it’s applicable

SL is highly urbanized similar to their neighbor Djibouti, who sadly has dire TFR before they’ve even became productive, hopefully they don’t have that same trajectory
