Hargeisa new mayor exposes rampant corruption in the previous Admin.

"The new bid to supply the city’s fuel was won by two local providers who will charge the city about 0.75 US dollars for a liter of petrol and .73 cents for diesel. This is significantly lower than the alledged 1.75 cents average the city has paid for fuel per liter in the past."

The previous mayor also sold tonnes of public land just before giving up his post. I was very suprised that Hargeisa looked so bad yet gets millions annually.

I don't know if it it's just me, but your link doesn't work. In fact the whole "Somaliland chronicle" website comes back with error message saying the server can't be trusted.

Great to see our fellow Somaliland brother reading Somaliland chronicle articles :trumpsmirk:
My grandmothers brother got a job in the Somaliland government recently, i will stop my isaaq bashing and try to learn more about the region.

After following Somali news for a long time i have found that the major thing holding back somalia is reer @Jungle and their explosive tendencies. My hate for mooryans trumps my love for Somalia kkkk

That's good to hear.I can link you a really good book to read on Somalilands history post colonial times.

I really like this new mayor!

He is running into the work headfast, Hargeisa has alot of potential but has stagnated due to the obese ex mayor.

You might not like him so much when you find out that his father was the legendary SNM fighter and musician Axmed Mooge (AUN).

We have a lot of hope for him. He is easily one of the most popular politicians in SL.

Why would i care if he is SNM fighter?

Warsengali weren't a big player in SL nor any other parts of Somalia. The only fights we had were with HY who for some reason attacked Yubbe only to be massacred. HJ and warsengali had good relations in the civil war.

Nice attempt at rewriting history. The Warsengali were major supporters of Afweyne and his Fa**ash. To this day they use the SNM name as a derogatory reference to Somaliland. That is why I figured you wouldn't be a fan of Axmed Mooge and his son.

What evidence do you have for that?

I haven't seen any major warsengali attacking Isaaq anymore then the Samaroon etc.

The Samaroon, Dhulbahante & Ogaden militia's, armed by Afweyne for this purpose, actually did attack Isaaq civilians consistently. They committed atrocities that were often far worse than anything the Fa**ash did.

The Warsangeli were major supporters of Afweyne, and were in favour of what he was doing in Hargeisa, Burco, Berbera etc. They were also massively anti-SNM. However, I do not believe that they actually committed any atrocities themselves.

To their credit, The Warsangeli elders also had a large presence at the Burco & Borama conferences that founded Somaliland. One of the Warsangeli elders, whose name escapes me now, in particular was a prominent figure at the Burco reconciliation conference.

Seems like a horrible consequence of tribalism, hopefully healing can begin. Luckily 75% of Somalis are youths, if planned they can begin developing new communities.
