The thing with a large city is you unfortunately get degenerates though. Doesnt really reflect on the local population as everybody lives there, plus you have crazy diaspora kids who teach locals bad habits.

Still I remember when I was back there few years ago SL soldiers will absolutely question you if you are travelling with non-mahrams, check the car for alcohol/drugs and stuff. You'll get arrested if caught with any contraband at vehicle checkpoints.
