Listen people lets cut the bs out. Most Somalis agree that you are only Somali if your father is Somali. This is dumb and I heavily disagree with this belief; I got a solution that is better.

Let say you have two Women...

One is Half Italian, Half Somali. Her father is White and mother Somali. She is smart and hardworking, She is involved in Somali culture, travels there, loves her people and nation. She would love to one day settle down with a good hearted Somali man and live happily ever after.

The second Woman is half Somali (Father’s side) and half White American (Mothers side) She has no interest or connection to her Somali side as she dislikes the people and sometimes even hides it. If you are half Somali, are around your Somali side, know your culture, traditions, language and stick for your people you are definetly a Somali no matter which side.

Eurasian and proto-Somali, I don't think it's Nilotic though, closer to Berber. And a significant number of Somalis are sheegatos, the clan structure is basically fiction with a kernel of truth to it. These clans are basically confederations, especially the Isaaq with all their Habr clans
