Hair Tips?

Ok so what do you guys do to activate/make your curls shine and make them clear & defined?

I see some people say to use hair oil, but I'm not sure if you wash it out or just leave it in? Do you wash it out after a few hours or do you keep the oil in your hair until the next time you wash your hair? I've gotten mixed responses. And do you focus the oil on the roots or the hair, or both of them?

How do you guys detangle your hair? What's the best detangling tool or method? I think this is the biggest problem for me. I can feel & see some of the curls but only up close. Some of the curls are visible to other people but its mostly the ones near the front, basically the ones that aren't touched by the pillow. To everyone else, my hair looks like an Afro. How do you maintain the curls after 2-3 days? My hair only looked decent the first day, after that it was gone.

What is the best conditioner and curl cream to use?

I prefer to massage the oil into my scalp, since that's where the growing occurs.
I'm currently using rosemary oil which is good for strengthening the hair rather than growing specifically, which matches my needs right now.

I wish I could help you out more with this but here in Australia, us Africans are starved of options outside of SheaMoisture in our pharmacies (because this is a white as hell country). I would recommend the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Smoothie by them for definition, it's always incredibly worked well for me as someone with 3C curls.

How long do you keep the oil in for? How do you detangle effectively?

Thanks

I detangle my hair when wet in the shower or I grab a spray bottle filled with water and spray it throughout my hair. Get yourself a wide toothed comb and begin combing thru your hair from the ends, slowly making your way up to combing your hair down from the roots to your ends. This prevents ripping hair out of your head (breakage)

And I keep the oil I'm using in my hair without washing it out because it is lightweight and sinks into my scalp pretty quickly.

If you use olive, coconut or castor oil which are most commonly used, you should wash it out a few hours later or even keep it in overnight with a plastic cap on top and wash it out the following morning. There's a difference of opinion here.

I don’t shampoo every shower. I shampoo once a week.

Shampoo is a psyop.

Conditioner is the only one you truly need.

I hear this one a lot but it's usually the same hippie dippie vegan nutjobs who think all chemicals are poisonous so I tend to brush it off. Elaborate, saaxib.

But you're right to shampoo once a week, only white people are supposed to be shampooing daily because their hair is too straight making it prone to grease combined with their already nasty hygiene habits.

Thanks, I think I need to cut off my hair and start again, there is no saving it. The back especially. I can see plenty of curls at the top of my head and the sides though, they're just not defined. At the back, my hair is basically an afro.

How do you maintain the curls throughout the week though?

My hair is pretty short so I'm not sure how to use the comb? I tried it before but my hair was short so it basically all fell to one side and because it was so short I couldn't separate it so I could detangle every strand, if you understand what I mean.

For reference, this is how long my hair is currently. This is the closest length I could find right now, this is how long my hair is but imagine it a bit longer at the sides and shorter at the top. I recently cut it all of and I'm 4-5 months in right now

Do you apply oil everyday or just after you wash the hair? Do you need coniditioner every day?

Our hair doesn’t get greasy if we don’t shampoo every day like theirs.

Shampooing it every will just overstrip the hair of oils it naturally produces.

Apply oil after you wash your hair so the water stays trapped.

Find out what hair type you have and if it’s high, medium or low porosity.

Shit, I thought you were gonna dig deeper into than that but that's basically what I said. I learn so much from your posts so I thought there was more to it than common sense.
