Habashi invasion?

What do you think Somalia would have looked like if it wasn't for the 2006 Habashi invasion?

The Islamic Courts Union was a moderate Islamist group that was quickly accepted by the Somali people. They had Shaikh Sharif as their leader. The first time Somali people united under a leader without reverting back into tribal hostilities. You had Darod from Kismayo unite under Sheikh Sharif, Hawiya unite under Sheikh Sharif and all the minorities unite under this one man.

They opened the airport, accepted UN and Arab delegates, started fighting piracy and all of this by Somalis alone. No more checkpoints where people rob you of your money, no more clan warlords.

The Xabashi invasion was always going to happen, regardless of whether or not the TFG gave the green light. Wikileaks confirms that the Bush administration heavily encouraged and bankrolled Meles Zenawi to go through with it. Funnily enough, 2 years later they distanced themselves from Zenawi and said the whole thing was a massive failure
