I'm not going to come out on the side of "mixing with madows is bad". Human beings are human beings and people should be with who they want and are happy with in a healthy relationship. That being established, I do think Habeshas are more likely to be swept up by the West in the diaspora than us. Somalis are lucky we're Muslim. It definitely allows us to have our own separate identity that encourages cultural preservation and endogamy.

Despite messing with @Garaad Awal a while back I can fully picture a surviving Somali and Muslim community in the west even 300 years from now, as a result. Maybe a little ajanabi admixed overtime but largely still somehow recognizably "Somali" and certainly Muslim. I can picture us very much going the way of Western Jewry. But Habeshas... when you're Christians, even their unique Orthodox brand, it's just too easy to become swept up into the great Western masses.

Their men are likely just as commonly assimilating and out-marrying and, in my humble opinion, even if they overwhelmingly are endogamous (might be true) it's pretty apparent from observing Habeshas that they are slowly just losing their identity. "Oreos" who are losing their ability to speak Amharic and Tigrinya and just being absorbed into the western "black" masses.
