Probably that too, but most often it's actually Ethiopians who arrive in Gulf countries and take on the ''Somali' name to dignify themselves

The frequent incidents involving some Ethiopian workers in the Kingdom have led citizens to refrain from accepting Ethiopian female workers, which has led them to assume Somali nationality.
Most Ethiopian maids who have run away from their sponsors have resorted to assuming Somali nationality, hoping to find a job opportunity and escaping the security campaigns that pursue violators of labor regulations. Meanwhile, some housewives are forced to hire them despite their violation of the system, and to ignore scrutiny of their nationalities and backgrounds, and sometimes accept their conditions, including some of them taking their children to work, not spending the night at home, and returning to their homes after work by taxi so that employers cannot find out their addresses.
When contacting one of the maids, the maid justified her assumption of Somali nationality by fearing that she would not find a job opportunity, stressing that she was not worried about violating the labor law, considering that her presence in the home of a Saudi family would provide her with security. As for her wages during Ramadan, she said that they reached 2,800 riyals, according to Asharq. On
the other hand, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom and Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, warned against those who trade in domestic workers and turn them into a commodity for sale and purchase during the holy month of Ramadan.
It is worth noting that many Ethiopians gathered in Saudi Arabia and rioted and caused chaos in protest against the campaign to correct the status of illegal workers late last year.

I know for a fact that Swahili slave descendants attached themselves to the Jabarti name, to dignify themselves but then through their association it became a degraded name.
Before this, the name Jabarti which was like a nationality for Somalis during the middle ages was seen as a ''blessed'' or ''Saintly' and ''prestigious'' name throughout the middle east.

It's understandable since we arrived in the middle east/gulf countries as mostly just scholars and merchants in the past and not as slaves or labourers/domestic servants etc. So they associated us with wealth and piety.
So it wouldn't be suprising if they masked themselves Somalis in recent times as well.
They used to do that in Saudi Arabia back in the old days but stopped the gimmick when Somalis started arriving in large numbers.

There was a Saudi state before the current one in the 1800s, they tried to build it by rebelling against the Ottoman Turks. Their ruler at the time was captured, sent to Constantinople and publicly behead along with his sons after being forced to listen to music. That was the end of the first Saudi State. This is just one example, you can call it slavery, gumaysi, subjugation, whatever you like. I see no real difference.
Well I assume they were rebelling for nationalism, not ottoman turks. Ottomans were the last Islamic caliphate and it all came crashing down after ww1. There have been a couple attempts since to make a better middle east with better non colonial borders but it hasent worked. Now israel is there and all the rest of the potential was taken out with the arab spring.
Because Sudanese are black and speak Arabic, most Arabic speakers think Somalis also speak Arabic like Sudanese, and some Arabic speakers think we speak Swahili, and Arabic speakers don't even know there is a Somali language.
Arabs associate blackness with slavery.
For Arabs, blackness has always been and still is synonymous with slavery.
If you are black, Arabs believe that you are a slave or descended from slaves.
Even now, in any Arab country, one can hear the word “cabad عبد” or “cabiid عبيد” to describe a black-skinned person, which constitutes a terrible disregard and degradation of human dignity.
Before and after Islam, the Arab mentality and beliefs were the same and have not and will not change: Black = Slave.

UAE is the worst of all.
Kuwait is actually much better off than both, it is similar to Qatar in that it does not persecute scholars and usually allows them to live freely. Kuwait has some of the most outspoken pro-Palestine voices and they dont seem to be suppressed, certainly not like in UAE/Saudi/Bahrain.
That is due to modern ignorance. Ancient Arabs were generally darker in complexion so that sentiment is a modern thing. Probably due to more slaves coming from Africa in later ages, whereas it was the opposite in the ancient past slavery was synonymous with whiteness.
No, it probably was a general association that started from the 18th century when there was slave boom where the majority of the slaves became swahili and ethiopian/oromo in origin who were transported out of East Africa to the the wider Arab and Middle Eastern world
I remember reading a book that described this. They hold these perceptions because that was their general exposure and interactions to Black people as slaves, laborers and servants and that's how they arrived there. This perception is kept up by Ethiopian/African maids.
You can see that to be the case because a lot of times their perception will deviate from that as you have seen at times with Somalis. We were generally held in higher esteem throughout history.

All because we wanted to stay neutral in the Gulf conflict, but they wanted drag us into it and use us as foot soldiers, but we rejected it.
They’re somali nationals not ethnic somalis, the somali nation hadn’t been formed when slavery was active, they were not considered somali back then. They are 100% deliberately trying to distort somali history for political reasons.
Bring out a single source that says Somalis were ever enslaved troll
