They would have to go through residency again like med school graduates if they came to the states. That’s the only way of getting a board certified license.

On top of that they must complete their steps which is another hassle.
Of course they would but they’d go through that at 23. No American doctor graduates at 23

You missed my point. If a uk doctor moved abroad to America. They would progress faster than an American doctor based on age and experience.
One of the hardest exams on the planet to pass is the USMLEs (American licensing exams), it's not easy at ALL to move there, as everyone wants to work in the USA.

It’s not impossible. A UK graduate should be able to do it.

I have cousins that did schooling in China that passed it with decent scores.

Yes, but you need to get high scores on all 3, get letters of recommendations from Doctors, pass the interviews, spend money applying to various places to get the highest chance of being accepted (that'll go to the thousands) and pray you to get matched to a residency or you have to repeat the application process. And unlike US med schools, international med schools don't prep for the USMLE from day 1, so you have to study for it independently.

It's a very stressful and difficult process, but not impossible, I agree.

The interviews is the easy part. My cousin who did schooling in China applied to basically every internal medicine program throughout the country and shelled over thousands to get just 3 interviews. My friends who finished school in the states applied to maybe 15 at most lol

I still think UK graduates will have an easier time than other international school graduates. They’ll definitely have a better at look than others.

You can’t practice in the United States unless you went to an American Accredited medical school in United States or Caribbean. So everything you just said is invalid. There are immigrant men who were doctors in there previous countries who are taxi drivers here because of that.

Ok now you are capping. I know people who studied outside of those areas but managed to get residency in the US.

That's untrue, you just need to go to an ECFMG accredited school (many are in the world) and pass the STEP exams.

Graduates from universities with low barriers of entry in places like Bulgaria, China, and Romania will have a much harder time than graduates in places like the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Even though on paper, the degree is equivalent, and the only way to prove you're not a quack is to ace the USMLE's and the other application processes.

That's just how it is, I've accepted that at this point, and am just working to do well on Step 1 by next year inshallah

You got it bro. It’s gonna be tedious doing 8-9 hour study days but it’s worth it in the end. Even US graduates who didn’t do their step 1 after second year go through the same process.

I have 2 cousins right now doing their residency after finishing Chinese schooling.
