Golds lack of reactivity with its surroundings allows to it be mined very easily. You just need a couple of people to first survey the area, rudimentarily if needed, to get a rough outlining of the plots of gold. If there is no gold over a perimeter you keep reducing the perimeter until you hit gold on all sides. Once that's done 100-200 miners can be sent up there to literally haul the gold or make mini gold wells. The chemical composition of gold then allows immediate smelting and reselling on the market.
Has anyone been sent up there to check if its iron pyrite(fools gold) , a quick electrolysis of saltwater can help you get HCL to check if its iron based.
Good luck
