Going to China as a Muslim

I’ve been wanting to visit China since I was a kid but I’m not sure if I should as a muslim. Not that I feel unsafe but because of what’s going on with the Uyghurs.

Most of the places in China that I’m interested in are located in interior China or near the Southern border. I’ve seen posts about other Muslims going to Xinjiang and saying the Uyghurs were glad to see other (visible) Muslims visiting their land but Chinese state police were hostile to them. It was never in my plans to go to Xinjiang but I’ve been thinking about it.

I have a friend who is Hui Chinese Muslim from Yunnan and is going back home in the summer and wanted me to tag along.

Is this equivalent to a Muslim going to Israel? I would never go there but I don’t know if it’s the right comparison. I don’t want to be seen as a traitor for visiting China like all is good. Give me some advice please.

Imagine a muslim visiting israel or a jew visiting nazi germany, the optics are different. Is it equivalent to visiting nazi germany or america? America is bad but there’s two categories. One was doing it out of greed and the other wanted to wipe them out of existence, the CCP is like Nazi Germany.

If I go to China they’ll definitely arrest me for having this comment on my phone

It is a great country to visit, and one of the oldest cultures to explore. Whilst at it, definitely consider visiting Urumqi & Kashgar in Xinjiang, the Muslim region to observe harsh life for the Uyghurs 'weegar' people.
