Glimmer of hope! Somali youth in UK raise over $218,000 towards development in Somalia

Over the last month, Somali youth in UK have been fundraising for "February Fundraiser 2020" campaign, organized by SYFI (Somali Youth For Integration)

In 2019, money raised by SYFI was used to help tackle maternal and infant mortality in Somalia

In 2018, money raised by SYFI was used to build a school, a mosque, and a well in Baydhabo, Somalia

This year, the fundraising campaign beat all previous records and £170,000+ was successfully raised by Somali youth in UK towards development projects in Somalia
mashallah, looks like there is a glimmer of hope for that cursed island :mjlol:

there were all kinds of fundraising events to raise donations, there was mountain climbing
there were Somali food stalls
there was even Somali version of "BK chat" (degenerate Nigerian talk show @Muji enjoys watching) kkkk

Hopefully the money actually gets to those need it and that its not stolen along the way by corrupt people or a corrupt organization

Mash Allah it is amazing what they are doing but they need to make sure the money is being spent wisely. In 2018 they built a school, with the amount of money they raised the building is quite ugly. The infrastructure is very important and should be aesthetically pleasing.


when you give back to your own people, you should ask yourself would these be good enough for you.

Exactly! I don’t think they really care so long as they get their money and the people who raised the money don’t care because it fed their ego that raised money for the less fortunate.

you should bear in mind they only raised approximately $70,000 in 2018

with that money they did not only build this school, they also built a mosque, and a well

$70,000 is not much when you consider all of the expenses involved in undertaking a project like this and it is certainly not enough to build a "modern" school

Why not just build a school only and make it modern. Why do you need to build a mosque? They could teach Quran at the school as part of the subjects.
