Glad we have survived Chinese debt trap

Somalis have proven they can build their own infrastructure without much foreign help, take the Garacad port for example.

Going into the future I think western Somalis should create companies that export resources from Somalia and sell them internationally. This will bring substantial capital to the country that will then create Somali owned industry that has western and in country presence.

With the revenue from these companies jobs will be created and the wealth will pave the way for training and skill acquisition for the youth in Somalia. Using this model the sky is the limit and it can be done without the help of loan sharks masquerading as good samaritan countries.

If we're good at one thing, it's business, we won't be selling any raw materials.

Our warlords are going to go from stealing sacks of donated bariis and bur to resell on the black market to taking out and embezzling multibillion dollar loans.

What a come up :icon lol:

Building infrastructure should also benefit locals, the way these infrastructure deals are set up, they use companies within China and the materials they use are often subpar.
Also we don’t have the expertise and you don’t think local or regional companies won’t overcharge us, they use cheapest alternative cuz they are doing grand scale projects with less money

It is not a trap, but a loan given to a state, then officials of that state mismanaging the funds, resulting in unfinished projects and being in debt. It is not a trap but mismanagement.
