Getting a tattoo, because of sadness & loss

My grandmother passed away today. I couldn’t have been there for her in her last moments because I am over here and she’s in Somalia. Her loss is currently really haunting me and I am just heartbroken because she’s the mother I never had as a young child. I was very aware of the fact that she was going to die soon because of her sickness but I never realised that it would be this soon.

I want to get a tattoo on my finger to represent the thing we both adored: stars. My grandmother and me always enjoyed to stargaze back in Somalia when I was younger and I want to get this tattoo to not only ease my pain, but to hold the dear memories of each other.

this also gave me a wake up call to visit my grandfather because at the moment he’s heart broken by the loss off my grandmother (they were together for so long and my grandmother was his only wife). Because losing the love of your life will really have a hard effect on someone

You should see your grandfather soon, when a spouse dies in old age, they usually let go of life. As for your tattoo, I would advise to not get it as I heard you cannot pray with a tattoo and it's important to keep that link with Allah.

Sorry for your loss

I am scared for this exactly, that when I won’t visit him that he will die of a heart broken heart which will give me only more guilt then I already have.

I am aware of it. It’s just that it will be the only thing that still connects me with her in this lifetime. But I totally understand your point! Thank you for your advice ❤️

Then you cannot get a tattoo. It is haraam. And also u will be sharing the haraam with your grandmother because u r doing it in her name. The best u can do is send Zakat to the mosque in her name.

First its with star signs now its with star tatoos.
‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “May Allah curse the women who do tattoos and those for whom tattoos are done, those who pluck their eyebrows and those who file their teeth for the purpose of beautification and alter the creation of Allah.” (Al-Bukhari, al-Libas, 5587; Muslim, al-Libas, 5538)

I think u need to go therapy cos u may have some infatuation with stars that u need to deal with.

Give it a few months or even a year, walaashay. Never advised to make irreversible decisions (well, mostly irreversible given laser removal) when you're in such an emotionally volatile state after a loss.

laser removal cost alot of monye, is painful, and also leaves a permanent scar. so its still kinda not irreversible

?????

there’s a difference between stargazing and zodiac sign. I find zodiac signs funny! I do not take them serious in any kind of way and I do not believe in them.

But stars are something I always enjoyed to look at and stargazing is actually a hobby of mine because I wanted to be an Astronomer as a young child. Me and my grandmother used to enjoy looking at the sky in the night and I used to study about the infinite universe, milkyway and it’s planets and suns.

I hope to have you informed enough about this because again, I do not want people to think I am some weird person who Does that

A mere finger can’t obscure the sun.
AUN. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus. Def go see your awoowe ASAP and give him all the hugs and love. Share your beautiful memories of her together iA.

Instead of a tattoo, maybe you and your awoowe could plant a tree in her honor? It will be sadaqah jariyaa for her and she’ll get reward for every person who takes shade in it.

Instead of a tattoo, you should probably go star-gazing with a sibling (younger would be nice) and storytell with them about how you and your grandma would stargaze. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had a Muslim friend that did this, but she said it was alright in Shi’ism.

First of all may Allah grant your ayeeyo jannat alfirdaws and may He ease the pain of her loved ones. May He reunite you all in paradise.

There’s another way you could honor your grandma sis, maybe build a well in her name, plant a tree, help orphans back home etc
