Seems disingenuous to infer it that was named by Jews, which is doubtful.
Egyptians do call their country Misr, not Egypt like the world calls it. But I doubt Mizraim is self-derived from Hebrew rather than influenced by their stay in Egypt based on what the natives called their own land.
Jewish words like “Ephraim”, for example, make it look like to break the word apart it into Ephr- and -aim is significant, since they seem to have a lot of -aim endings in their lexicon. So it was most likely always Misr and they added the -aim from their own language, and it fit that way to become the meaning for fortress in Hebrew —> Misr-aim —> Mizraim, and then their old name for it stayed with them.
That’s my wild guess, anyway. It just seems ludicrous to me that the very name the people call their country would be given to them by Jews. Misr most likely has an ancient Egyptian meaning.
People give Jews way too much credit, almost on a mythical level. They’re really not that special. The first reference to a political entity called Misr comes from the east Semitic Akkadians of Mesopotamia long before Jews existed as an “ethnic group”.
As you’re implying, the name is most likely Egyptian and transferred to others as contact with foreign entities increased over time (through trade).

no there a pretty special group, ask @Omar del SurPeople give Jews way too much credit, almost on a mythical level. They’re really not that special.
I don’t debate that, but they’re given entirely too much weight, for good or for evil. Whether to blame them singlehandedly for Weimar Germany (as if most of the population of Germany wasn’t participant in the decay they explicitly blamed Jews for, simply for having a knack for establishing themselves), or to credit them for something crazy like naming a great, ancient civilization the likes of Egypt. The thing is jews had a lot of history this guys had so many stories even though the Persians are the most ancient

I smelled the bullshit as soon he alleged the Jews had named them, and that Misr is originally Hebrew derived lol.
