That Africa is mostly inland and not exposed to many water inlets, which has caused African cities not growing to major world cities like the ones in Europe. It is true the bigger port you have and the more water inlet your country has, the more ilbaax and ahead of the inland people u r. U r several steps ahead of them. it gives u the opportunity to venture outside your world and interact with outside world. Think Somalia and Nigeria both have healthy inlet of water ports. That is why are they smarter than average Africans.

This is precisely why I think it would take decades to create new cultures that are not only philosophically and ethically coherent, but also superior; African Nations are corrupt because Africans are corrupt; the poverty almost neccesitates the corruption, but a dearth of ethical and political philosophy is the biggest culprit.

IMO, African nations needs their governments full of technocrats capable of creating a culture that embraces modernity but also is tailor made for their people. I really believe that the advancement of CRISPR will allow for Africa to rapidly catch up to the rest of the world, as it's biggest issue is mismanagement and incompetence

The highlighted paragraphs speaks to the issue of the most vexing thing about the 3rd world and our propensity to inflate our own strength, standing and importance; we routinely miscalculate and the results are always disastrous.

I can certainly appreciate the promise of gene editing for intelligence, however, the political system you would need to create in order to accommodate that would have to be dystopian.

The expensive nature of the program would mean that it would have to be restricted to a few; it would mean that these few would be the only people eligible for political service.

There is no guarantee that a gene edited Geniocracy wouldn't be as self-serving and predatory in the same way that our mis-leaders behave right now; genius and morality are not virtual synonyms and shouldn't be treated as such.

Don't get me wrong, there should be stringent academic and ideology informed requirements to enter the political environment, however, I don't think it should come via gene editing.

I don't think CRISPR could enable something as extreme as that.

CRISPR would obviously have to be regulated in order to prevent the scenario you've mentioned from happening; the global South is so demoralised that I wouldn't be surprised if people tried to physically intimate themselves with European traits and features.

It might sound extreme, but we shouldn't allow non-African models to appear on billboards and other forms of advertisements; propaganda is powerful and should be guided to serve National interests -- including perceptions of attractiveness.

I think by 2050, the technology and ability to create populations that are smarter, healthier, etc than anyone that's lived is going to be commonplace. Biology is a lot cheaper than people think, so I think nations are going to widely adopt this tech more out of a fear of being left behind by their neighbors rather than a desire to actually create genetically modified humans. I genuinely believe it's going to kickstart the rapid convergence of Africa to the 1st world

It's pretty dystopian, but I really think it'll be a big positive for Africa and the rest of the world
