I was scrolling through LSA (it's a guilty pleasure, sorry) and stumbled upon this thread on Trending. Naturally, as a Gen Z myself, it piqued my curiosity. I assume the American Survey Center carries similarly strong credibility as the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics), correct me if I'm wrong on them.

My country is already very secular, most Aussie cadaans only care about Christmas/Easter, and all my white friends who actually care about Christianity are sons/daughters of immigrants from like Croatia or Greece anyways. So, I'm not all that fussed about irreligiousity on the rise in and of itself, especially amongst apostates of another religion, none my business.

I'm more worried about a rise in being militantly atheist amongst my gen, because that would mean people directly attacking me and my Muslim friends at higher rates, as opposed to the weird glances we're already used to. Shit, what if we turn into another France?

I can't imagine Gen Z people who bang on about leftist activism on IG/Twitter a lot of the time, becoming violently against practicing religious folks and their own freedoms in 5-10 years but at the same time, we also couldn't have predicted everything becoming so politicised today too, with people calling normal fun stuff like movies "woke" all the time from 2016 onwards.

It's always Mariam iyo Bushra from the Arabs or the Timmy Js. It's less commonly their brothers Mustafa or Imran.

Its usually the murtad men who push the anti muslim rhetoric but you do get occasional women like ayan hirsi. Yea the socialisation too plays a part. Persians go hard tho

No, those female gaals generally come from Desi/Arab backgrounds where cultural misogyny is far beyond what Somali men do, so they contribute to the propaganda as 'revenge' on the 'nasty' Muslims who abused them growing up.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an exception who fabricated her whole story for clout, since Dutch people just lack the swag and charisma to make it as celebrities, so she had to settle for being a figurehead of post 9/11 propaganda.

I'd rather this thread not be derailed by a full-on convo about our apostates, but I think their pettiness is one factor mixed in with legitimate trauma, combined with a personal distaste for religion and its 'suffocating' rules that existed prior to their actual doubts on Islam cropping up.

It really varies from person-to-person, and I like to give everyone a chance to prove themselves as well-intentioned and decent, instead of beefing with everyone who doesn't like the diin.

Yeah going back to the point gen z women. A lot of them are lost and trying to find meaning in something. Creating ‘aesthetic’ cores ifykyk. Shockingly a lot of them are turning to the trad wife movements. I saw this 15 year old saying she wants to be a trad wife. I think it’s predictable that a lot of women are turning to atheism as men use religion to justify their misogyny.

Very interesting. Women have always been way more religious than men. This means less money for churches, mosques etc etc. Trust me women keep this religious institutions running. Even though they treat their women congregation terribly...without women they would be nowhere. Men just don't spend their time and money propping up masjids/churches etc etc.

Most of the financially independent and educated women I've met around my age were not religious.


Also I'm surprised about lsa views. Most black people I've met that grew up going to church are borderline atheist.

It's considered sus when women suddenly become religious during their late 20s and 30s in madow spaces. Like niggas start making theories about her being a former hoe. There's always a few chicks with a crazy past that suddenly become religious as they get older.


I believe most Somali Youth in the diaspora will be fully assimilated within the next few generations. We will have a lot more gaal somalis in the west and a lot more mixed ones. This will happen a lot quicker in countries with smaller Somali populations. Our communities will slowly disappear in the west. You will probably see this in your lifetime since you live in Australia
