Garre language.

So, I stumbled across a video of a Garre Somali woman speaking the Garre language.

I had no idea that they spoke their own language.

Where did this language originate from?
Is it closer to the language that proto-Somalis used to speak?

Or are Garre's origins slightly different to that of the majority of Somalis?

Garre is part of Digil in Somalia, and its not only them that speak Af-halguri.

There are also: Af-dabare. Af-jiidle, Af-tuni, and Af-barawani and maybe others.

Garre language is a dialect of Boran Oromo, due to the fact that for centuries Garre where subordinate under Borana power, till the 19th century where they shook off Borana dominance.

There are two Garre languages.

One is a dialect of Oromo. This is their lingua franca on the border region near Oromos, not their native language.

The other one is an ancient version of Somali, kind of like Af-Maay. It is gramatically and linguistically not Oromoid but Somaloid (-oid means -like).
