I already investigated, my maternal abtis are originally from afgoye not elbur. According to them when reer mudug hawiye came in 91, they brought clannism to them. They knew each other only on xafaad or degmo. Reer degmo this and reer xafaad that. Clannism was irrelevant, they simply didnt kill each other over it that's for certain, plus it was known clan but it was like private matter to them.
So 91 happened surely somalis would have learned a lesson on what civil war can befall a people ending of society it seems like 91 must be taught to all children and make it so it never befall us again

People in this thread are confusing piped water with piped potable water. The vast majority of cities in Somalia have piped water, but almost none have piped potable water. Garowe is second to Las Anod in treating its piped water to a potable standard.
You can shower, wash dishes etc.. with piped water in all cities, but drinking it is not recommended as it is not treated. Most countries in the world don't have piped potable water by US standards.

To be quite honest northern cultures even back to the 60s brought clannism but they were 'isolated' and treated as 'backwards' while the prevailing culture of neighborhood, friends, immediate family was prevalent culture(beesani), then Siyad towards in the 80s adopted this idealogy due to SSDF starting the clan drumming and leading to USC/SNM to copy.
But after 91 the hawiye mudug basically continued that but with a VIOLENT twist, till today it's under such system, while the old besani culture is fading away with the old only remembering it.
