Pay the elders to give up Intel on AS fighters. Elders rule Somalia. That simple really. The elders of the village know who’s Al shabaab and who isn’t. The reason al shabaab is thriving in those areas are because they gained the trust of the elders of the clans who reside there. If the government build a relationship with the village elders (however they do it), they will give them up in a day

that’s how the government took back cadale in 2014. They built a relationship with the local elders and the public which made AS lose their support. By the time SNA and Amisom reached the surrounding areas, they took over the town without much fighting really.
