Galmudug conflict could be about uranium resources

The entire border has been earmarked for uranium exploration for decades. With the decline in fossil fuels the resource will become even more expensive. Previously there has been minor explorations.

The sub-tribe of the Galmudug leader Qoorqoor is completely wiping out its rivals along the border to try and push them across the Ethiopia-Somalia administrative border and when I say wipe out I mean literally forcing people to leave which is by definition ethnic cleansing.

Qoorqoor has the backing of N&N, he is solid with Puntland and has squashed internal beefs. This is very likely a resource war of a different kind.

This map shows 2 areas where uranium has been explored in the past.

From what I gather uranium is in the central areas of Dhusamareeb and Ceelbuur districts not border areas.

@Bohol surficial uranium is found in calcrete rocks which include Dhusamareb and El Bur as you mentioned but it has also been found in areas such as Cabduwaaq/Abudwak.

Cabuudwaaq district is good for grazing land it would be disastrous to the land there to explore for uranium.
