I honestly think Galkacyo satisfies to many reasons not to be the capital of Somalia. The region is split with darod and hawiye on south and north of it. It serves as a better security location then the 'coastal' Mogadishu which can be flattened any-time by navies like happened to Baargaal the old capital of Majerteniya, it seems like we didn't learn from the past mistakes of Majerteniya with Baargaal as it's seat of government because we still have a Somali capital in a coastal location, which can be bombarded by sea.
Galkacyo is centrally located in Somalia and is deep in Somali territories and can be safeguarded from foreign nations, it's the only region where the north-south-east-west meet and trade. Mudug isn't dominaated by one clan but has a diverse power balance ensuring the city never becomes 'unuka leh' nonsense of banadir.
Now that both sacad n omar mahmoud have put aside their historical issues we as puntites and Somalis as a whole should welcome the fact these two clans have put aside their differences and united to work for the betterment of their land not remain in a 'quasi' conflict ridden status because the only one who pays the price then is sacad n omar mahmoud not nugaal or bari nor do the hamari politicians in hamar care what happens in mudug and will continue to operate as the capital.
I think it's time we congratulate Galkacyo people both sacad and omar mahmoud who have put aside their difference, the town has so much potential with Garacad being it's port, the days of Mugdi Mudug is slowly lifting and the brightness of horumar is on the horizon.
Dr Osman personally is well known here to despise Hawiye, but I will never despise peace and development, regardless where it happens, and it seems like galkacyo is now entering a new era and era of peace and development.
