Somalia auditor general slams government finances
The Somali government is keeping some donor funds offshore and none of the ministries have completed last year's accounts, the auditor general said in a report published on Wednesday.

How anyone can defend this is crazy to me. Farmaajo’s government was the most corrupt we’ve ever had. There’s no precedent for the FGS to refuse to pass budgets through parliament and the Auditor finding massive holes in government funds.
Also it’s quite well known in 2021, covid funds were stolen. The Ministry of Health however is most to blame. So I’ll cut Beileh some slack here.
Also those claiming HSM is corrupt. The guy is broke. There was unfortunately corruption by those below him but he couldn’t do much given the lack of power of the FGS at the time and the need to be on good terms with powerful clans.
The difference however is unlike HSM, Farmaajo did have a much stronger state and could’ve dealt with this but instead is rumoured to have 100s of millions in wealth wealth after diverting funds to himself and locking up khat contracts for his brother from Ethiopia and blocking competition from Kenya.
