You can easily justify this law through maslah in that its in the public intrest do disocurage people who seek to take advantage of poor families through marrying children . Its a weird type of munafiqnimo that the sheikhs who lobbied against this have the most smoke for this law and not for the 100 other major problems that are real issues in somalia.

It’s great that young Somalis are furious about this shit, it shows some of us care unlike some other African countries who have far worse child marriage culture yet don’t speak about it, I haven’t seen Ethiopian speak about the mass rape of Tigray women

Not really

Ethiopians including those in the diaspora do speak about issues in their country but they do so in their own language. Their audience is fellow Ethiopians and their diaspora doesn’t speak over those back in Ethiopia. Unlike Somalis, they don’t run to foreigners to cry about the ills in their society. Same with other Africans.

Even when they do speak to outsiders, they make it about a gender issue/wealth inequality/ corruption instead of spewing broad generalisations about their country and people. Our people are often performative attention seekers who only engage in emotional outbursts over whatever is trending.
