The Somali government IS WESTERN BACKED ALREADY. Ethiopia has had and will have armed ethnic conflict regardless of what goes on in Somaliland. Unilateral recognition is what the United States already did with Kosovo, and they were better off for it. This was garbage, if the Somali ambassador to the US can't make a compelling case, nobody can.

Strategic losses make tactical victories meaningless. Somaliland's defeat at Goojacadde means that Harti Woqooyi now have a recognized FMS. I have no idea how to convoy what a massive failure that is for Somaliland and for hopes of secession.

The FGS can now point clearly to the fact that what used to be British Somaliland is divided into two states and that secession as a clan based state is legally baseless. This argument will become unassailable if Woqooyi Bari manages to hold a referendum on its constitution in the next few years.

Somaliland is a dead man walking even if you disregard the (extremely juicy) demographic problems.
